An experience designed to help you rediscover the joy of putting the craft back into witchcraft - where every handmade creation becomes an act of magic.

WHAT WE HAVE PLANNED:

Over five days, you’ll immerse yourself in the magic of autumn through hands-on crafting, meaningful rituals, and connection.

Together, we’ll create a magical broom, crafted from natural materials and infused with your intentions for protection and ritual work. You’ll design flower crowns to celebrate your bond with nature and weave corn husk dolls, symbols of harvest blessings and ancestral wisdom.

Midway through the retreat, we’ll step into the crisp autumn air for a guided foraging walk, gathering seasonal plants to enhance your practice. In the evenings, we’ll come together for drumming and song, grounding ourselves in the rhythms of the earth.

Seasonal rituals and spellwork will help us honor the abundance of the harvest, embracing gratitude and balance. Nourishing meals, lovingly prepared by a local chef, will bring the flavors of fall to our table, offering warmth and comfort as we gather.

Through shared stories, laughter, and the beauty of coming together, you’ll strengthen your connection to community and rediscover the magic of witchcraft.

Fox Haven Farm, a beautifully restored 19th-century retreat, sits nestled in the rolling hills of Jefferson, MD. With its peaceful creek, lush woodlands, vibrant herb gardens, and rustic red barn, it offers a serene escape from the everyday.

Just 15 minutes away, the historic town of Frederick adds a touch of charm with its fine dining, art galleries, and boutique shops.

Founder of Bruja Power Botanica and host of the Witch's Winter Festival, she is a devoted guide empowering individuals to reclaim their inner power.

As a Lunar Priestess and initiated Shaman, she practices Curanderismo and Brujeria, traditions passed down through her lineage. A Reiki Master Teacher, Advanced Pranic Healer, and Feng Shui master, her expertise includes studies in energy healing, coaching, and co-creation. Before embracing her spiritual path, she specialized in cybersecurity and digital forensics.

A percussionist, vocalist, educator, and activist based in Washington, DC. With over 20 years of experience, she has facilitated hundreds of drumming experiences that blend cultural learning with self-expression and joy. Founder of the Young Women’s Drumming Empowerment Project, Kristen has also led drumming tours in Ghana and built a community arts center in Senya Beraku. She leads the Bele Bele Rhythm Collective, teaches African drumming, and has received 22 grants for her transformative work in schools and communities.

Using historical techniques and ritual intention, her creations include besom brooms, altar whisks, candle holders, and ritual implements. Marnie’s work bridges the physical and spiritual, grounding ancient materials with modern purpose to create items that are both functional and meaningful.

THE ACTIVITIES

During this retreat, you’ll flow with the rhythms of the season, immersing yourself in experiences that spark creativity, nurture your practice, and deepen your connection to nature and our community. From crafting magical tools to gathering beneath the autumn sky for rituals and drumming, every moment is an invitation to honor the energy of fall and the magic we create together.

We’ll infuse each experience with intention, celebrating the abundance of the harvest and the joy of gathering as a coven. Some of our activities include:

Foraging Walk: A guided foraging walk through the autumn landscape, to learn to identify and harvest seasonal plants for magical and practical uses, to connect with the natural world and gather treasures to incorporate into your craft.
Broom Crafting: Create your own magical broom (besom) using natural materials, with lessons on the historical and magical aspects of the broom, for protection, ritual work and as an expression of magic.
Flower Crown Making: Design a beautiful flower crown that celebrates your connection to nature and the energy of the season.
Corn Husk Doll Crafting: Weave tradition and intention into the art of creating corn husk dolls, symbols of harvest blessings, ancestral connections and magic.

Drum Circle: Gather under the autumn sky to drum, chant, and connect with the earth's rhythms.
Fall Harvest Magic: Honor the abundance of the season with rituals and spell-work inspired by the fall harvest. Celebrate gratitude, balance, and transformation.
Community Meals by a Local Chef: Enjoy delicious, nourishing meals prepared by a talented local chef, featuring seasonal ingredients. Each dish is a celebration of the harvest and a feast for both body and spirit.
Connection: Build stronger connections with our coven members through guided practices and open conversations. Together, we’ll create a bond rooted in trust, support, and shared magic.

What is included:

Nourishing: Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner thoughtfully prepared by a talented local chef, along with a selection of snacks and drinks to keep you nourished and refreshed throughout the day.

Crafting supplies: All crafting materials for broom making, corn husk doll crafting, spiritual bath blends, and more are included, so you can fully immerse yourself in the magic of creation.

Daily Witchcraft Workshops: Engage in magical witchcraft workshops, group rituals, spell-work, altars, and meditations. These sessions are designed to deepen your craft and connect with the other participants on a spiritual level.

Comfortable and Quaint Accommodations:

Stay in cozy shared accommodations designed to foster connection and sisterhood. Over four nights, enjoy the perfect mix of personal retreat and communal living, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Drum Circle: Led by Kristen Arat, known as the "Drum Lady," a renowned local musician and activist. Feel the rhythm and energy as we unite in a vibrant summer solstice drumming and dancing session.

Authentic Relating: Guided by a local circling practitioner, this circle offers a space for deep, meaningful connections and shared experiences, fostering a sense of community and understanding.

Broom Crafting: Create your own magical broom (besom) using natural materials, perfect for cleansing, protection, and rituals.

Corn Husk Doll Making: Craft traditional corn husk dolls, honoring ancestral traditions and the harvest season.

Simmering Pot Creations: Design your own simmering pots with fall-inspired ingredients to fill your space with warmth and magical energy.

ITINERARY

Day 1: The Beginning of Our Magical Journey

Arrival and Unwind: Arrive at 5 PM at the serene Fox Haven Farm, where the rolling hills and peaceful surroundings welcome you into the retreat. Settle into your cozy accommodations, meet fellow participants, and feel the magic begin to unfold.

Evening Circle and Welcome Dinner: As night falls, we’ll gather in a sacred circle to open space, set intentions, and connect as a group. Following our opening ritual, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner prepared with love and seasonal ingredients, setting the tone for the days ahead.

Day 2: Foraging and Rhythm

Breakfast: Start your morning with a nourishing breakfast featuring local, seasonal ingredients to ground and energize you for the day ahead.
Morning Foraging Walk: Take a guided walk through the beautiful autumn landscape, learning to identify and harvest seasonal plants. This practice deepens your connection to the earth and provides treasures to incorporate into your magical work.
Time for Connection and Journaling: Take a moment to reflect on your morning, jot down your intentions or observations, and share thoughts with fellow participants as we gather together.
Lunch: Enjoy a fresh, wholesome lunch, connecting with fellow participants as we share the flavors of the season.
Energies of the Fall Equinox Workshop: Dive into the themes of the fall equinox—balance, abundance, grounding, and transformation. Explore how these energies can guide your magical practice and personal growth.
Dinner: Savor a hearty, seasonal dinner as we prepare for an evening of rhythm and connection.
Drum Circle at Dusk: Under the setting sun, join “The Drum Lady” for an immersive drum circle. Let the rhythms ground you, connecting deeply with the season and the energy of the earth.

Day 3: Crafting Magic with Dolls and Brooms

Breakfast; Start the day with a warm, delicious breakfast to fuel your creative magic.
Doll Magic Workshop: Learn how dolls have been used in witchcraft for generations. Discover their role in healing, manifestation, and connecting with ancestral energies, and explore ways to bring this magic into your practice.
Corn Husk Doll Making: Begin with the art of crafting corn husk dolls, weaving intentions and tradition into these symbols of harvest blessings and protection.
Time for Connection and Journaling: Pause to reflect on the morning’s creations, write down your insights or intentions, and connect with others in meaningful conversation.

If nature isn’t your comfort zone, or you prefer a rigid, highly structured schedule, this retreat may not resonate with you. It’s not suited for those with controlling tendencies or perfectionist expectations, as the experience celebrates flexibility, spontaneity, and life’s imperfections. Private accommodations are limited to 2 rooms, so those seeking solitude or predictability may find this retreat doesn’t meet their needs unless you are booking a private accomodation. Additionally, attendees are responsible for arranging their own transportation and flights. This is a space for unity, shared experiences, and a fun approach to magic and community.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED

Airfare and Travel Costs:

Keep in mind that the cost of flights and other travel expenses to and from the retreat are not covered in the retreat fee. The closest airport to our retreat location is Washington Dulles International, with a driving distance of approximately 50 minutes. Regan airport is about 75 minutes from the farm. We recommend booking your travel arrangements for either of these airports well in advance to secure the best deals. Traffic in the DC area can be WILD. Plan accordingly.
Transportation to and from the Retreat:

Please note that transportation to the retreat location in Maryland is not provided by us. You will need to arrange your own trip to and from the farm.
Medical Expenses:

Any medical costs incurred before, during or after the retreat will be the responsibility of the attendee. It's wise to have a travel insurance policy that covers medical expenses.
Pre- or Post-Retreat Accommodations:

Should you wish to arrive earlier or extend your stay after the retreat, the cost and arrangement of additional accommodations will be up to attendees.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which airport should I fly into?
The retreat is near Dulles International Airport (IAD), about a 50-minute drive to Fox Haven Farm in Maryland. Regan airport is close by too. Airfare is not included.

How will I get to the retreat venue?
Please arrange your own transportation to the farm. Car rentals and ride-sharing services are good options.

Who can attend this retreat?
All women 21 and older are welcome, perfect for those interested in kitchen magic, witchcraft, and community. It suits all experience levels.

What is the accommodation like?
You'll stay in shared, cozy accommodations at Fox Haven Farm, ideal for community building and relaxation.

Is WIFI Available?

Yes, but we can not guarantee availability as this is a farm outside urban settings.

What is the policy regarding alcohol and recreational drugs?
There will be wine available for one of the dinners, and one of the recipes to cook will be midnight margaritas. Drinking it is optional, of course. Recreational drugs are NOT allowed.

How does payment work?
You can either choose a one-time payment or a payment plan. Payment must be completed 60 days prior to the retreat's start date. If you are on the installment plan and this deadline arrives before your payments are completed, the remaining balance will be due immediately.

What is the retreat cancelation policy?
Payments are non-refundable. In case of cancelation, you can transfer your spot to someone else. Cancelations within 30 days of the start are non-transferable.

Are pre- and post-retreat accommodations available?
We don't provide accommodation outside the retreat dates. You will need to arrange your own if you plan to arrive early or extend your stay.

Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend travel insurance for unforeseen changes, cancelations, or emergencies.

Is single accommodation available?
Our focus is on shared living to foster community and connection. However, if you prefer more privacy, you're welcome to book a stay at any of the local hotels or Air b n b options in the area. Please note that choosing to stay outside the offered venue does not change the price of the retreat.

Do I need to bring a drum?
You can if you wish, but drums for the drum circle will be provided.

How many people will attend the retreat?

We're keeping it intimate and impactful – the retreat will host only 12 participants, along with our dedicated team of facilitators and teachers. This small group ensures a personalized experience, rich in wisdom sharing and supportive interaction.

What kind of clothing do I need?
Fall clothes, sunscreen, mosquito and tick repellent.

Is this retreat exclusive to Coven members?

Yes, attendance at the retreat is reserved for members of the Mujer Luna International Coven, but exceptions can be made, and it will be, evaluated case by case.

Do I need extra luggage space for the return trip?

Absolutely! You'll be heading back with loads of amazing goodies. Make sure to reserve some extra space in your suitcase. Alternatively, you have the option to ship your items back home from the nearby post office.
